Cap-A Radiator was founded in Farmingdale, NY in 1982 by Bill Carberry. As opposed to almost every other radiator and air conditioning specialty shop in the county, Bill's business still exists.
In fact, due to an expansion into other areas, Cap-A Radiator is growing. And so is the website. The company's subsidiaries, including Classic Radiator, Classic Heaters, Cap-A Radiator Fuel Tank Restoration and Long Island Classic Restorations, as well as the company's Vintage Air dealership and installation center, have grown so massive that we needed to split the website into two separate sites.
Just as we have recently grown into a bigger repair facility and just as we hire more technicians as the workload increases, expansion means that we have grown into this second site. This will make it easier for you to find the parts and/or service that you're looking for without having to wade through page after page of services that are meaningless to you. Of course, you're welcome to browse the entire site, as well as Cap-A Radiator.com!

At the age of 16, Bill Carberry bought his first car. "Percy" is a 1954 Chevy that's even older than Mr. Carberry himself! For his next car, he bought one much closer to his own age, a 1959 Ford Galaxie. Both cars are still running today because they're maintained by Long Island's best classic car repairman, Bill Carberry.
Bill's true passion in life is the restoration of vintage vehicles, whether it's a Ford Model T, a 1934 Willys Coupe or a 1971 Chevelle with a big block engine and Positraction rear, Bill Carberry can make it go!
Carberry has been the owner and operator of what is now Nassau County Long Island's last radiator repair shop, Cap-A Radiator in Farmingdale, L.I. He has been specializing in cooling systems since he opened the shop in 1982 and has been deep into his sub-specialty, classic and antique radiator and heater restorations for 20 years! People who love their cars and know the importance of a properly-functioning cooling system have been shipping their radiators and heaters to Bill Carberry from all over the world to do the right repairs because they know that they can trust Bill Carberry to treat their babies every bit as well as he would if they were Percy himself (or this '59 Galaxie).
